At this point, FOSTA is very likely to become law. Free speech advocates are alarmed & sex workers are terrified of losing access to info about dangerous johns. Politicians are surely in part motivated by the signaling benefits of passing a supposedly “anti sex trafficking” bill.

People DON’T read legislation, they don’t listen to sex workers and other vulnerable groups that lack widespread appeal. They DO see titles like “Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act” and expect their reps to vote yes, facts aside. What do we do about this?
