I believe my subjective experiences matter, separate from the fact that I may later remember them. All my experiences will one day be fully and truly forgotten. Either my whole life is meaningless, or my experiences that I won't remember do in fact matter.

I pretty heavily discount negative experiences that will be truly fully forgotten immediately, given that I think most harm comes from compounding effects (disclaimer: my intuitive beliefs around this aren't totally coherent). Still, yeah, I'm very much not OK with this ohdeargod

Indeed, I do also have this intuition. The joy that comes from repeatedly looking back fondly on good memories seems to often outweigh the joy I felt at the moments when I first laid those memories down. And same with the pain of bad memories.
