Random thing I noticed today: some pattern-matchy part of my brain has developed a *just barely noticeable* allergy to the word "breathlessly." Insofar as I can peek into the black box, it just seems to be a word used frequently in bad/rage-porn articles relative to useful text
I wonder which words and phrases are dwelling *just below* the noticeability waterline, but still capable of triggering positive or negative frames under the right conditions
None of this is surprising -- "breathlessly" is maybe just getting a little more play as superfluous low-key mockery, and of course that would be annoying to me. The immediate "ugh" response & desire to check out re: such a tame word was kinda new for me, though
