Yeah, I think we actually overvalue IQ-related outcomes relative to the sorts of things schools can actually influence, like social/emotional competence and the cultivation of individual interests

Insofar as a "school" is just a building full of children, adults with different kinds of knowledge, and lots of different books and objects to manipulate, school's not such a bad idea. We just really, really managed to bungle it.

Perhaps there is a benefit in the greater variety of environments and individuals a child is introduced to by being in a school environment, even at an early age.
