Is it any surprise that a society that purposefully instills the tolerance of extended boredom as a core intellectual value is careening toward an automation-driven labor catastrophe with near-zero foresight or preparation?
I think that making the standard educational path such a joyless slog has probably made kids & young adults more susceptible to superstimuli at home. I see no evidence that boredom begets creativity more effectively than engagement with an interesting problem or concept.
