I think most people don't have that concept internalized, and normalizing evil is all it takes for more people to participate in it (see: spiral of silence).
That I do not buy. People like The Racist So Boring I’ve Already Forgotten His Name are everywhere; we don’t summon them from the void with NYT articles. NYT readers aren’t going to the next tiki torch rally, it’s the people he’s inviting over for pasta we have to worry about

Agreed, and also agreed. But I don't know what this piece does to advance the idea of the banality of evil (to teach it) or do much other than express that he's a pretty okay guy and why the fuss about his views on Hitler?
