If he'd done it on purpose, it's not a discussion; he gets fired, but from what Masha Gessen said, it was a stupid mistake. We're in our homes, we do stuff, someone flushed the toilet during Supreme Court arguments. (I'm not for jerking off during Zoom breaks but that's me.)
Jacking off during a work meeting is not anywhere near the same league as getting up to take a piss, assuming you don't bring the camera with you and point it at your appendage.

Well, agreed (and I don't) but he thought he was out of the meeting. The camera was off, the mic was off, he was just home alone. Only he was a Boomer and clueless about technology. (I'm a slightly younger Boomer, but I know where all the buttons are.)

He didn't say he tried to leave the call or believed the call was over; he said he tried to mute himself. Which didn't work, and here we are. This is precisely why the general rule is to not masturbate during live work calls.
