"Save the free press" had enough of a run for some of you, I guess. How long did it take you to forget how "fake news" was minted? How did you develop such a strong taste for your own sacred cow?
I have heavily criticized media coverage I believe to be irresponsible, biased or blatantly false — but I would *never* suggest social media forcibly memory-hole those stories or suspend the outlets publishing them. It wouldn't have even occurred to me. This isn't hard.
I think these systems are too viral. They need to attenuate those curves. But not cherry-pick single cases like this, that's just crazy.

Though I disagree with what Twitter did, the private site isn't everything, and it's not as if certain people/orgs have been locked behind a Chinese firewall. I'm not going to try to speak to those that I disagree with on the left...
but, I find it kind of difficult to feel outrage at what Twitter had done, given the fact that the majority of people who *are* outraged by it seem effortlessly able to turn a blind eye to far worse behavior from the other side. (GOP reneg on SCOTUS, gassing protesters...
