...and sometimes, finally, that there cannot actually be any territory at all. Very important to drop your philosophy major before you get there, folks

And then go on to insist that their map is, for some atbitrary reason, the nonexistent territory

I mean I’m sympathetic to math being a human construct (that is it doesn’t really exist outside of us) but it quite frankly is absurd to think that it’s possible for math in itself to be influenced by things such as racial bias. It’s only influenced by anthroprocentric bias.

Math is a useful abstraction, a ~simulacrum~ of reality. If 2+2=4 contains any dimension of meaning it is because we have *given it* that dimensionality. Consider a quantum case where we construct a probability of reality: math is the language of observation of the unobservable.

I've had no luck in getting to an common understanding of map:territory with anyone not already familiar with it. Your point is framed to mean stuff that's in the news, yes? Do we think any of the players in the news use a map:territory metamodel? My first answer would be: none

I’ve never heard the term, “map:territory” but the biggest cognitive error most people make is mistaking their perceptions and subsequent mental models of the world for the actual world.

How about a middle school lesson in map:territory and theory of human development of knowledge, then from there to HS graduation, these two concepts can be brought up repeatedly as a containing understanding of what is being taught.
