7 shots isn't excessive at all. Adrenaline will keep you going even though you have been shot. In those seconds, he could have killed the cop behind him, run over the people in the street, or possibly harmed the kids in the back.

What does the hand on the forehead emoji mean? Do you not think that Jacob might have tried to speed off, possibly hitting or running over the people in the street?

No ... it means that police with any skill or training could subdue a suspect without shooting him at all let alone 7 times in the back and likely could have defused the situation without violence at all ...but police are not trained for the job.

What kind of skill or training do you think would have worked in this situation?

Far too many things to explain on Twitter, but being proficient in jujitsu would be a good start.

Grappling with someone with a knife is extremely dangerous regardless of how proficient you are.

Agreed, but again. Why are you so certain the man had a knife in his hand? I have not seen anything supporting that. And if he did, why have we not seen it in evidence? It must have been collected no?

Because I see him holding something, I can hear the officers telling him to drop something while raising their weapons, and a knife *was* recovered from the floor of the car. I'm not "certain" he had a knife, but it's difficult to explain the video otherwise.

I’ve seen and heard the video. Neither are conclusive, but Blake did manage to get the officer in a headlock. That is in part because the officers are poorly trained in subduing suspects peacefully and rely too heavily on pulling guns.

I'm all for more training for the full range of force. Two trained men should be able to subdue an unarmed man nearly all of the time. But if a knife was pulled at some point in that struggle, this is a very different scenario, and getting some distance was the right move

I can’t disagree with any of that. If indeed there was a knife pulled that changes the math dramatically. I hope we will get clarity on that point ASAP... imagine if they had body cams ;)

Even if they had body cameras, you would still be upset that the man with the arrest warrant who was walking away from cops (who were pointing guns at him) and reaching into a car with children in the back got shot.
