Of course McConnell would demonstrate transparent hypocrisy in a situation like this, and of course Democrats will respond by trying to pack the court as soon as the opportunity arises. My tolerance for people not seeing this despicable game for what it is now at an all-time low

That’s an accurate description of the dilemma they’re facing, but I asked what ^you^ would do.
I would hope that I'd argue very strongly for *not* packing the court and try to form a bipartisan coalition around ending this insane pattern of arbitrary power-grabs, but there would be plenty of personal and party pressures against that

Okay. I get that and admire the principal, but I feel like “doing the honorable thing in the face of unscrupulous opponents, and losing” is exactly what Dems have been doing since GWB stole the 2000 election. Twenty years is a long time. Where’s the line?

re: packing the courts as unethical, this reminds me of the problem of security holes in modern operating systems, loopholes open to exploitation. The Senate’s ability to punt on a Supreme Court nominee is one, the ambiguity of the composition of the Supreme Court is another. 1/2
