It's incredible what people will assume on the basis of what you think and say and accomplish: that you're "educated" or not, rich or poor, come from x sort of family. The further you are from these ideas about you, the easier it is to see how these narratives are constructed.

People often assume I’m of the “highly educated elite” and I get called an “academic”. They also assume I’m an American born into wealth, based on my views. The truth is I’m a high school dropout from a broken blue-collar home in a socialist country.
