Insofar as the film presents these as flipsides of the same coin — and I don't know that it does, because I refuse to watch anything shamelessly marketed to me as softcore child porn, and this absolutely was — I don't know that it helps anyone reach beyond the poisonous dichotomy

I honestly think you should watch it. I agree marketing is bad but the film makes the exact same point as you...that there is a middle ground.
