Is "get screwed" the next "be honest," or am I messing something?

I think he is saying that being trusting of others has upside (all the benefits of connection) and downside (occasionally you get screwed).Unclear where the optimal point on that continuum is but it's not "maximally untrustful/vigilant". This implies getting screwed sometimes

That's certainly one way of saying a thing that wasn't actually said.

Fair interpretation. Seems that & mine overlap a little. What you’re saying is indeed unjust, but I guess many of us willingly take the trade off you describe when pressed. I dunno, I don’t feel strongly either way, just find it interesting.
