What made this really frustrating listening for me is that many of the issues and concerns aren't frivolous, but they seem to point toward deeper community divisions and the friction between starkly divergent walks of life that *should* have been explored with less of an agenda
Lol basically the problem is that they are good parents and Black parents are bad.
There is a strong 'moral' principle, called 'original sin' which holds that everyone is fundamentally bad and that they need to be taught this by driving them insane by putting them in double binds and blaming them whatever they do. Actually, the blame is for wanting to be good.
Once people show resignation towards their own sinful nature. Once they stop trying to make things better but instead start to act ashamed of themselves, they are rewarded for doing so by the bureaucracies, employees and authorities in their lives.
Close down all public schools and give that $14k/yr directly to the parents. Let them spend it however and measure the results longitudinally with tax returns.
Am I wrong to believe there was a time where some @nytimes editor would have caught this contradiction and requested a re-write? Or would the chance for a #1 rated podcast have always outweighed intellectual integrity?
It’s natural for parents to be involved. Don’t make excuse for people who have children but aren’t involved with their education. This must be said directly to children having children. This is the cycle that must be address head on. Stop talking around the issues.
