The whole thing is full of these really bizarre double or triple binds that are hard to untangle. White parents only *say* they're interested in diversity, they don't really care; and if they did, would it not be a sort of fetishism?
A really central bind is around degree of involvement: simultaneously, white parents are admonished for abandoning non-charter public schools... and, when they *do* decide to send their kids there, for being over-involved in both planning and fundraising
What made this really frustrating listening for me is that many of the issues and concerns aren't frivolous, but they seem to point toward deeper community divisions and the friction between starkly divergent walks of life that *should* have been explored with less of an agenda
It's all about schadenfreude. Encouraging that some of the nonwhite moms don't share this perspective.

right, because issues in disparities aren’t going to be solved without deep economic, social, and cultural investment. The lazy and probably more cost-effective solution is diversity quotas. But who knows if this is actually beneficial. Although, my hunch is its not :)
