You joke, but I'm now strongly considering cancelling my work visa application process. This isn't the only factor—it's much easier to do business online nowadays anyway. But that's all the more reason not to push folks over the edge like this, or so one would have thought.

How is that legal? How about the flyover states enact a wealth tax for everyone who spends more than 2h per year in their respective airspace? Seems equally reasonable to me

A feature not a bug, as far as the loony left in Sacramento are concerned. Unfortunately, policies have consequences. The biggest taxpayers are usually the most mobile. To paraphrase Mencken, these pols know what they want & they'll eventually get it good & hard.
