When 'infected' people are mean to me i'm just like... i don't get it. I would *never* be that mean to them. I would never insult them for stating their opinions, I wouldn't kick them out of groups they kick me out of. There's some terrible asymmetry going on here.
I think it's both less corrosive and more accurate to think of these people as having uploaded malware vs. the obvious alternative, which is that they're intrinsically unscrupulous, unethical human beings. The latter is, in fact, what they do, and it justifies monstrous behavior.

Ahh yes, 'malware' - definitely the default use of "infected". Also super inaccurate / bad faith version of how people think about racism / racists.
