Whatever liberal & libertarian parents experienced in their own youth with personal recreational drug use and the godawful war on drugs, extreme caution is warranted now when talking to younger folks. The drugs here today are NOT the drugs we grew up with.

Most people who are addicted these days got started on prescription drugs, and adderall is straight up meth and xanax is basically heroin, so that's a more important thing to warn people about. But I'm not sure the crack in the 80s was any less dangerous.

There’s also the fact that many drugs these days may have unknowingly been cut with fetanyl, which can kill at extremely low doses. I find that terrifying.
