It's hard when you're starting out, though! What's reasonable? What's "normal"? I reflect on what I put up with from my first boyfriends and wonder what I could possibly have been thinking. Maybe it would've been different if I'd seen a healthy relationship at home, but alas.

It is. That relationship was actually so bad that I stopped dating for... longer than I’d care to admit, frankly, and now have probably aged out. There’s a sad pattern where men take advantage of women worse, but also have more trouble coming back from that kind of experience.
