I don't know what the complex, fast-paced effort to study hydroxychloroquine will ultimately conclude about its efficacy, but I continue to be freaked out by the politicization of a legitimate drug. Insofar as it's preventing physicians from exercising their own judgment, yikes.https://twitter.com/robbystarbuck/status/1287945512054853633 …

Here’s the guys involved. I just have to ask. @andymstone, what business does Facebook have overruling the medical expertise of licensed doctors who’ve seen hydroxychloroquine work in patients and in studies? Is Facebook unilaterally deciding what science or medicine is accurate? pic.twitter.com/ABBESyZ182

I think it's frankly incredible that any journalist is this certain that they're right about hydroxychloroquine. It's much easier for me to condemn that than to condemn a doctor whose patients seem to be defying expected mortality rates, even if that turns out to be good luck.

For what it's worth, I think both sides of this are handling the question poorly, and frankly everyone should be highly skeptical of any claim that a certain drug definitely does or does not work against a virus that almost everyone was unaware even existed until 6-7 months ago.

Honestly it's the best kept secret in medicine that this is more or less what it's like all the time anyways, especially in pharmacology where anything that should work the way we expect given what we know about biology just kind of refuses to

Taking down these posts isn’t preventing those physicians from exercising their medical judgement w/ their patients; it’s preventing them from disseminating potentially dangerous info over internet.

If you watch the video, you'll find that much of what the doctors are saying pertains to the availability of this drug and potentially serious career risks for prescribing it. Call me crazy; I think stifling *that* discussion is dangerous.

Guess how many Covid patients this “journalist” at an ideological dumpster fire posing as a newspaper has treated.

Hi. There's probably no easy, single answer for this. But it helps to hear what YOUR answer is : How come you are able to think reasonably even in these times of high uncertainty and definite propaganda? What one (or few) source or idea or mantra drives your thinking?

I'm just an honest fan of what I've seen so far on twitter of your posts. And I've seen a few others praise you for the same. This is me being greedy and hopeful that by tracing what you read or know, I can become similar too.

To my mind, people discussing whether the doctors are right or wrong are missing the point. Yes, incorrect medical information is dangerous. Even more dangerous: others deciding for you what information you can evaluate. That's a difficult leap for people, it seems.

There seems to have been real scope creep re: censorship. I'm sympathetic to some arguments about content that directly instructs people to do extremely dangerous things to themselves. But these are doctors talking about in-office use of an FDA-approved prescription medication.
