Protests appear to be on net relatively neutral for COVID spread in large part because they utterly fuck over public spaces for non-protesters, many of whom are already struggling to get out of bed. Hope that's clearer.

I’m not sure how this is even relevant when protests are not occupying whole cities’ streets. They aren’t “utterly fucking over” public access - as I understand it they are located in a relatively small proximity, with huge amounts of cities unaffected by crowds protesting.

the paper has an interesting premise but it’s more likely due to the reporting than protests themselves. I live a block from the target that was set on fire and yet I go to protests (not to meet my needs or to feel morally superior), I get outside responsibly every single day>

I'm sure some people are acting irrationally, there's greater complexity here. I haven't felt safe leaving home many of these days and evenings not because the protests are outside my door, but because everyone knows the cops are tied up & crime is spiking in my neighborhood.

Mason, you sound like a brat. Black people have been unsafe for...ever. So if you could just...stop.

My neighborhood has a black population 3x larger than its white population, and all of us are at increased risk.

No, for living in a neighborhood where crime is spiking while the cops are tied up. How the fuck did you draw that conclusion from what I said?

because you made it sound like you were at a higher risk because there was a higher Black population

I'm saying my neighbors and I are sharing the same risks here. When violent crime spikes, everyone has to live with the consequences. Jesus.
