I'm in that situation and I refuse to do that. There have to be better ways to find community than joining something I don't believe in just so I won't be completely alone.
They would get most of what they are looking for by marrying, having kids, and forming a locus of provision between two extended families. There has been a huge cost to the question-everything, tweezer-and-lab-coat, treatment of relationship models in these communities.
