Many will return. Doing homeschooling well is very hard work. And almost no one is qualified to do all high school, and school lab materials are not cheap, etc. Homeschoolers usually cannot afford private schools, hence homeschooling.
High schoolers are not generally well-taught, which is reflected in their international test scores. A lot of money does get spend, and we all pretend that's the same thing as a quality education.

Separate question (I was addressing predicted homeschooling rates). As a hyper-educated high school teacher, I get your point here. It's a quality spectrum whose distribution curve leaves a great deal to be desired, but it's a spectrum and some of the best are v well served.
