Many families will experiment with community pods out of necessity: keeping kids home every other weekday or cutting days in half just won't be feasible for most working parents. But I predict that so many kids will start thriving in pods that schools will entice very few back.

yes, very dangerous gambit the teachers unions are running here. and not just working parents with pods, there will be a lot just opting to home school. the kids the public schools lose will be disproportionately the ones with motivated parents, etc.

Many will return. Doing homeschooling well is very hard work. And almost no one is qualified to do all high school, and school lab materials are not cheap, etc. Homeschoolers usually cannot afford private schools, hence homeschooling.

High schoolers are not generally well-taught, which is reflected in their international test scores. A lot of money does get spend, and we all pretend that's the same thing as a quality education.
