It makes sense that states hit the hardest & earliest would make more progress towards high % adoption on masks/etc Agree NY/NJ failed badly early on (the nursing home law the most notorious), but seems important to note which places have failed to change behavior now

Are they looking pretty solid now? Yes. But no, sorry, not relative to California, which is considerably more vulnerable because it didn't already expose everyone in its major metros. I'm not going to pin a ribbon on any of these motherfuckers who killed their constituents.

This part I agree with you about - and did agree with even before this crisis for the record.

But a) NYS is objectively safe now, perhaps the safest place in the country; and b) I think that’s an important fact for the media to communicate, even if some could confuse it for “which state has the best governance”=>”which governor should get brownie points”.
