If anything I've said here was taken to imply that Han Chinese have been spared any cruelty the CCP have inflicted on other communities wherever convenient or supposedly socially justified, that was absolutely not my intent.

My cynicism on this is more that CH's gov has always been so. American execs still sent tech + jobs in that direction for access to consumer mkt. These security concerns have always been there. Now tiktok outperforms and the capital class now super concerned about human rights.

And to me it seems terribly strange to now be worried about security after we sent so much tech and trade to help them build their economy and turn them into a superpower. They build islands in China Sea but now were like they're getting too much of our mobile data.
