It would be helpful to shift the focus here a little bit. People seem divided over whether we should be concerned for the people who are cancelled. But the higher order concern is for all of us. The world suffers when ideas can't be shared freely.

Although extreme I see your point. Yet, I'm not sure how fair this comparison is. "Blood on one's hands" is a well-known idiom but what Paul speaks of is not. I feel like that makes the conditions for literalness sufficiently different.
