I've had a man lure my dog away from me in order to prevent me from leaving. Trust me, it's terrifying. Shocked to see how many men fail to think this scenario through.
Of course, had Amy Cooper followed the law and had her dog leashed, she wouldn't have been stuck between releasing the dog to the strange man calling offering him treats or staying upright so she could run if necessary. But I don't doubt the real possibility of her fear.

There is no outcome that will satisfy, and the result will be retaliative public behavior — perhaps worse if a conviction isn't achieved, but almost certainly quite severe regardless. We're no longer satisfied by the process, it only stokes us further.
