I hope I'm right, but I don't expect the NYT article on Scott Alexander to be a hit piece. It's revealing that so many worry it will be, though. Few would have 10 years ago. But it's a more dangerous time for ideas now than 10 years ago, and the NYT is also less to be trusted.

I'm sorry, but if your'e asking folks to have sympathy for the position that Scott should be protected from the consequences of writing in defense of widely discredited books like "The Bell Curve" because that's damaging financially, you have picked the wrong year.

Folks have known Scott's name for a long time now. It's been trivial to google from any permutation of his real name and pseudonym for a long time now. He has not "been cancelled" even to the limited extent folks like Yarvin have. So this risk profile offered also seems fishy.
