Mason what's the angle/interest here from the NYT? Is it a vendetta by the journalist? What's the beef with SSC and the rationality community and how does revealing any name or focusing on any individual relate to his stated goal of 'understanding the landscape??
Yeah I think the journalist and paper have become the story (poor practice) and it's now incumbent on @puiwingtam to explain how this is newsworthy and responsible journalism.

With the wholly negative reaction, you'd imagine if intentions were pure that clarification and assurances from journalist or editor would've been swift. It's bad to let the outcry grow unless all PR is good PR.
