This is tempest in teapot vast majority of people aren't fired if they don't parrot extremist lines. Can we stop thinking this is normal behavior or representative? I have worked w/media for decades and it simply isn't true. Don't let fringes control narrative or your perception.https://twitter.com/webdevMason/status/1273673202313510914 …

"Don't be noticed unless you're well-positioned to be noticed" is really the kicker, here. This is the novelty brought about by platforms like twitter. It's pointless to pretend we're still in the media/communications environment of 2000.

It's gotten better since then! A lot of my media friends now hold the cards and know it. They get to dictate terms. I still think future of media is personalities not publication brands. People matter more in a world of commoditized information. It's not easy but it's doable.

If this did happen to you, streisand effect the hell out of it and I bet you can find a better gig anyway. Who wants to work for an editor who succumbs to the online mob? If they don't get it by now that's a get out situation you're working for someone who is completely clueless.

This is... not reflective of the kind of jobs and educational background most people have? Let them eat cake.
