We live in a country where drunk drivers kill >10,000 people/year. Whether you think people who play dice with others' lives this way should be jailed, diverted to treatment or just relieved of their licenses, "do nothing because they might resist arrest" is fucking insanehttps://twitter.com/WesleyLowery/status/1272651455518912512 …

I agree but that is not a response to Rayshard Brooks’ situation at all. He was asleep in his car when the police showed up. He was not a drunk driver playing dice with other people’s lives - he was taking precautions to avoid being reckless.

He was asleep in the drive-thru lane of a fast food restaurant. Let's not play stupid, here.

And the cops showed up and antagonized him for 5 minutes while he repeatedly offered to walk home. He was trying to find a way to not endanger anybody. Implying that people who are upset about that situation's handling are saying "do nothing about drunk drivers" is garbage.

How how did he get his car into the drive-thru lane of the Wendy’s? Hint: he drove there.

I might even be so bold as to suggest that someone passed out in the Wendy's drive-thru lane with the engine running was there not because he felt a duty to save lives, but because he wanted to eat some Wendy's on the road.
