They'd already ID'd him, perhaps Uber + summons to appear? Of course that could mean liability if he did something bad later, so tough to balance net risk/harm. Still, I'd rather decouple how to deal with DWIs and the use of lethal force in this specific case and ACK it's tragic

If you're still intoxicated and you've been caught driving, it's arguably in the public interest that you not have any more opportunities to do something stupid until you've sobered up. If you start applying this case-by-case, you're asking to be accused of bias.

I agree but that is not a response to Rayshard Brooks’ situation at all. He was asleep in his car when the police showed up. He was not a drunk driver playing dice with other people’s lives - he was taking precautions to avoid being reckless.

He was asleep in the drive-thru lane of a fast food restaurant. Let's not play stupid, here.

Lots of people with lots of “it’s just so easy” solutions like we’re living in a scripted world. They’ve clearly never been to the scene of sever drunk driving accident nor actually dealt with drunk aggressive people.

The problem is that they shot him in the back as he was running away. Should the penalty for drunk driving be death by firing squad? If he had gotten away, would he have posed an imminent threat to other people's lives? Must answer yes to either to justify his being shot.

Here's a moment in time. Rayshard Brooks is running away from police, who were attempting to arrest him for DUI. Rayshard has just unsuccessful tried to fire a tazer at a cop. He is several feet ahead of the cop, still running away. What should the cop do next, and why?pic.twitter.com/OJAVdLemX0

This is such a needlessly antagonistic take - I don't understand why you keep putting out such low quality un-nuanced opinions these days.

You keep strawmanning things for...fun?
