I actually think more people who are interested in this sort of thing should try to form communes, spend some time off the grid, physically build stuff The problem with all of that is that nobody is going to try to stop you

Property tax tends to be a problem, as someone’s got to have an on-grid job to keep that paid.

Successful microcommunities tend to offer products/services externally and purchase whatever isn't sensible to make themselves. They pay taxes and use some services. They're still Americans. Secession talk is all LARPing
