Pessimistic ideologies feel awful to be in the grip of. (Though sometimes they include a compulsion to deny this.) Emerging from them is a great relief. This should give optimism the decisive advantage in any field of free communication.

Anger and self-loathing are really strange emotional states to be locked in long term. I don't think human beings who fee they can move freely socially often experience them for extended periods. I think that might warp a lot of other perception

"Disasturbation" is another good term for this. Although having said that, I once borrowed the term when writing an essay, and my philosophy of art lecturer said it's good, but it does kinda rely on a negative view of masturbation, and then I felt un-woke.
