Why are they so dangerous? Maybe there are too many guns?
It's pretty incontrovertible that domestic violence is most dangerous in situations where a gun is involved, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if well-implemented gun control reduced fatalities to both the victims and the responding officers

Unfortunately it wouldn’t. There are already plenty of firearms floating around that can be obtained illegally. All that would occur would be a reduction in the legal ownership by law abiding citizens seeking a means of protection.
