I have an indescribable respect for the cops on reddit trying to explain, warmly and diplomatically, that domestic violence calls are actually very dangerous situations

Domestic violence calls kill more police than any other kind of call. Theyre the most dangerous situation to step into. People are at their most emotional and most dangerous.

I heard that it's a myth that domestic violence calls kill more police than other calls. This summary of eleven studies (not an actual journal-published review though, might be cherry-picked) says no studies found that. https://www.llrmi.com/articles/legal_update/2015_johnson_domesticviolence/ …pic.twitter.com/7iAnpTWp8d

This analysis seems to be looking at all assaults on police officers rather than *lethal* assaults, and the stats I'm finding are... hard to interpret.

FBI says 48 officers were 'feloniously' killed in 2019; only 1 responding to DV call: https://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/fbi-releases-2019-statistics-on-law-enforcement-officers-killed-in-the-line-of-duty … This one lists 48 gunfire deaths in 2019, *three of the first ten* involved domestic violence:https://www.odmp.org/search?cause=Gunfire&from=2019&to=2019&filter=nok9 …
