FWIW: I think this is one dimension along which many somewhat left-leaning and somewhat right-leaning folks can find themselves aligned, and I hope they do because this is the one I really care about

No, not every YA book and TV show depicts places where children are treated as though they belong, where they develop useful skills over time, and where they utilize those skills proactively rather than defensively.

A lot of it was built around families, which made it difficult to relate to if you were an only child or came from a dysfunctional/abusive family. Harry was an entry point for everybody
