@micahcohen was pointing out that early on the very conservative group was the most worried about the virus and then only switched to being least concerned when that became a sign of support for Trump. -
I'd argue the very conservative group has maintained a consistent level of worry, "take reasonable precautions and prepare for significant disruption". The rest of the country's just lapped them, demanding precautions and causing disruptions far beyond what they expected.
