It doesn't, though, it just ensures that the sense-making class has the experiences & incentives of the 1+nth generation rich, who understand their privilege but also have a very distorted sense of how much education + wisdom their parents were actually able to buy them

Right and that’s where some of the holier-than-thou attitudes can come from. But in my mind, a trust fund kid in Brooklyn working as a journo probably won’t earn much... in terms of wealth, they have to rely on the family $

I actually think they're in a pretty crappy spot, and that doesn't help, either. They represent the medium-term regression to the mean in terms of their immediate family wealth, and they still get to feel guilty for enjoying it. I don't think it's any coincidence they lean woke
