We're managing a very vulnerable population in a shockingly expensive way, staring down the barrel at an est $1.7B budget shortfall, tremendous health consequences for a growing population living on the street & a huge number of residents who'll be in the same situation very soon
We *cannot* pattern-match to "the progressive response" or "the conservative response" and proceed reflexively. We have to manage a very bad situation sustainably, so we don't watch the support system collapse after taking care of a few thousand people for a few months.
