Day 43 of shelter-in-place. Only 939 homeless San Franciscans are in hotel rooms. There are still 30,000 vacant hotel rooms. And the City is currently paying for 1,244 hotel rooms that they are leaving completely empty.
SF is paying ~$6k/month per person for hotel room + meals (not accounting for the cost of city labor for supervision), facing a $1.7 billion budget shortfall, and will have an even larger homeless pop *even before* eviction protections are lifted

We have to get real, here. If SF doesn't effectively cooperate with the surrounding region to manage the safety + needs of the homeless in a more homogenous & sustainable manner, people will continue to travel to wherever the most generous services are; it's the smart thing to do

Don’t fall for the mayor’s latest distraction. There is a database of people the city manages. Don’t be fearful that flocks of new arrivals are coming for rooms. The rooms are being offered to people in the city’s database only. She is creating new distractions everyday - ask why

Four shelters have been moved over to rooms for $80/night, that’s $2400 per room per month & lower than that per person because people are also doubled up. The city is making bad choices to add unnecessary cost. You should demand they do it at a lower cost as it’s proven it can.
