"wtf is consciousness" is a whole separate issue, but we're still generally operating on the assumption that biology is a substrate for it, and biology is essentially just chemistry, and chemistry is essentially just physics, and all of it is just matter serving as compute
Yeah.. and then another issue: if everything is simulated to such a deep level then it doesn't matter if it's simulated or not... it's our reality regardless. There's definitely overlap in the ideas of God & AI... I like the description that The Singularity is the Nerd Rapture.
