I believe the intent is to get people to ask themselves whether the information they are about to share is actually accurate, or reliable, before they share it (repeat it to another person, re-tweet it, et cetera): it may be the first time they had wondered that so critically.

This isn't how people work, but if you think it is you are most likely the target audience of this ad

I'm not saying you're a "sheeple," I'm saying you're the target of this ad. The fact that you think the target of this ad is best described as "sheeple" is exactly why I think your explanation of how it's supposed to work is wrong.

Basically, "this is for all the other idiots" assumes a lot about humanity that is wrong, and it's also partially why elites continuously fail to predict popular behavior.

I do not recognize your characterization of my response. Actually, "this is for all the other idiots" matches your response more closely. You establish that (1) unlike you, I am wrong about how people think (an idiot, and an 'other'), and that (2) the ad is the 'for' me.

I'm not sure else how I'm supposed to interpret the assumption that a person who might read this billboard has never considered that their beliefs may not be correct, but will do so now that they've seen a billboard. People know when they're being called stupid this blatantly.

Yes, people do know when they're being called stupid, like when they're told that they're the "target" of an ad because they don't know the 'real' way that people think. You have brought your own prejudices and assumptions about my intent to this conversation.
