@SamanthaJPower behind curve, missed class a few days. WHO pandemic came only 15 days after 1st case in CA because unlike CCP the US hid nothing. Course of SARS 2.0 utterly different if CCP did not lie for 6 weeks. 45 declared NE only 2 days after WHO, whereas 44 took four monthsThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. If I’m informed correctly, our quickest vaccine was for mumps and it was 4 years. Where does this 18 month timeline come from?

Hmmm, I've seen reports (including some commentary from Dr. Fauci) that we just about had a vaccine ready for SARS, but that disease was defeated by excellent public health measures before they could (and needed to) scale the vaccine. I'm optimistic on vaccine.

SARS1 vaccine https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18463152/ Same strategy would work for SARS2. We could make, test, and scale up a live-attenuated SARS2 vaccine in 3 months if there was a will.

Yeah we keep hearing these false equivalencies and they're not helping anyone other than being used for political posturing. Creating something new for a novel(new) virus doesn't happen overnight.
