Ultra-low caps on "screen time" for kids increasingly resemble foot-binding to me
If a child wants to knit, let them knit. If a child doesn't want to knit, great; it's not a skill that makes any sort of practical sense in 2020 unless you enjoy it. People lose their minds when they equate productivity with menial tasks.

To be clear, I'm not talking about forcing anything on anyone. I'm sure we'd all rather kids did something than nothing. Getting sucked into youtube seems like a good way to do nothing for many people

Doing nothing on a screen, when that nothing is entertaining, seems a lot better than the kind of doing nothing kids normally experience in the absence of a screen.
