The extreme pressure on parents to neither helicopter-parent nor neglect while in many cases acting as the enforcement mechanism for at-home busywork and no longer having any cultural support for providing unsupervised time is... toxic, at best. Childhood is largely lost.

I'm sure you feel you're doing what you feel you need to do to be the sort of parent want to be, and assuming that'll produce the sort of child you are supposed to produce. My parents had similar assumptions and I'm trying very hard to learn to forgive them for it.
