But it is very feasible to keep a home that kids can use as their own miniature lab/craft depot, which for many kids is preferable to unhindered computer access. I'm inspired by the slime craze
And there are, of course, some kids who take to games or software like ducks to water, and it's really quite a bad idea to deprive them of their thing. Like many of the best musicians and athletes, capacity + intuition built young often translates to exceptional ability later on

My kid matches that profile. But there are limits to what we're willing to sacrifice of our own health/wellbeing to support his exploration in that area.

I like what you have to say here. A pivotal moment in my life, strangely enough, was when my dad bought me a domain and told me to build a website. I was 10. I spent ~80 hrs doing that over the following 2 weeks. The knowledge I gained gave me a huge advantage over my peers.
