Sex work is neither the new horror that trads want it to be, nor the great power for good and liberation that some progressives want to celebrate it as. It draws interest now because it seems like a way to make markets do even more work; but this is not often a market problem.

If someone wants to quell their sexual desire, there are medications a lot cheaper and safer than consistent paid sex. Sexual desire is a signal. I'm not against sex work, but I don't see it as much more or less dystopian or utopian than medicating away the signal.
